Exploring Cultural Boston

As one of the most significant centers of history and culture on the north-eastern coast of the United States, the city of Boston draws numerous visitors every year. This city has a diverse range of attractions and entertainment available so everyone who arrives in Boston on a pleasure trip is bound to find something of interest.

A brief introduction to Boston

The area around the city of Boston was among the first to be settled by colonists from Europe, including seventeenth century arrivals from England. At this time, the religious minded nature of the English colonists meant that Boston was founded in the spirit of the puritanical way of life to which the people aspired. The location in the bay, with ready access to fresh water, helped the settlers to survive the first harsh years of struggle that it took to establish a community.

Later, towards the end of the eighteenth century, Boston would become closely connected with the struggle for American independence from the British. A wave of actions against English rule included the now famous incident of dumping a cargo of taxable tea into Boston harbor. Boston also became pivotal to the independence movement in military terms.

Boston’s theaters and music

With such a key position in the spirit and history of the United States, it is perhaps unsurprising that the cultural and educational profile of the city has remained prominent over the years. The theater, music, and dance scenes in Boston are lively whatever the season. Venues such as the Symphony Hall for classical music, the Citi Arts Center for modern dance, the Boston University Theater for drama, and specialist spots for various music forms, from jazz to ballet, have built solid national and international reputations.

Many Boston hotels are located close to the areas where the theater and music scene is at its liveliest, so access for visitors is easy, and it is possible to choose accommodations according to any special interests concerning entertainment.

Boston and the visual arts

It is not only performance arts that are well represented in Boston, as there is also a strong cultural presence from different movements in the visual arts. The Museum of Fine Arts, for example, puts on a varied combination of exhibits all year round, while the Institute of Contemporary Art and the MIT Museum also attract large numbers of visitors with programs of exhibitions and events. Many people come to the city just to find the Cheers bar from the television comedy of that name. Moreover, as might be expected, there is also a wide range of historic sites, museums, and cultural centers for visitors to explore.

Events and festivals

Boston is a busy city throughout the calendar, but it is worth checking the latest cultural program for specific details. Regular festivals and arts series frequently bring music and drama out of the custom-built venues and onto the streets and into the waterfront park. Summer in the park and in the arcade near the city hall can be particularly busy in this respect.

The benefits of renting your own villa in Florida

Many of us will go on holidays to Florida this year. It is one of the most popular holiday destinations for people from Great Britain. Especially Orlando offers many great attractions for tourists and is a great place to stay. The most popular attraction will surely be Disney World. With so many things to do in Orlando, many people find themselves spending a lot of money during their holidays. Therefore, they find it all the more important to get good value flight and accommodation deals. Whilst hotels sometimes do not offer good value for money, you may instead want to give a private villa a try. Florida4Less provide a great selection of cheap villas and you will surely find the perfect one for you. They also offer amazing deals for fantastic Florida attractions. If you have never thought about renting a private villa, here some reasons why it can be a great alternative to a hotel.

florida villas

Whilst staying in a hotel, you are surrounded by many other tourists all the time; you can enjoy your own space in a villa. Not only do villas come with fully equipped kitchens and everything you need, many are also available with their own pool. Hence, you avoid queuing for sunbeds and enjoy a quite sunbath.

For those who think that you have to dig deep into your pocket – you are wrong! Especially for bigger groups of people a villa will be worthwhile. Firstly, you can all stay in one place and there is no need to take several hotel rooms and secondly, you will be better off since the costs can be split. Renting a villa also saves you the money you would spend on eating out as you can cook your own meals.

Whereas in a hotel you need to be considerate of other people around you, you can do whatever you like in a villa. Whether you decide to have your own pool party or a nice barbecue, you won’t bother others.

Another advantage is obviously the space you have in a villa. Compared to hotel prices, you get much more value for money and benefit from bigger rooms.

Private villas simply offer more flexibility and are particularly great for families that are looking to have some great time together. Many families do not get the chance to spend much time together during the year, so they should definitely try out what a private villa can offer them!

Dreaming of New York Holidays

Out of all the cities in the United States, New York City is one of my favorites. It’s a concrete jungle but admit it, New York does make an interesting concrete jungle. Not only is it home of the Statue of Liberty, but they definitely know how to celebrate Christmastime in New York. It’s no surprise that some wonderful movies are set around the New York holidays. Serendipity and Home Alone II are just some of my favorite movies set in New York.

Going on a New York holiday is both exciting and exhausting (if not planned well). It’s better to plan these city getaways as early as now, or even a few weeks or months early to reserve the best spot in hotels. As for the tourist destinations, here are just some the things you shouldn’t miss during your New York holidays.

christmas Rockefeller New York holidays

Rockefeller Center Plaza – or as they like to call it, the Christmas capital in New York City. Rockefeller Center is a complex of commercial buildings where you can shop, dine and pretty much enjoy the holiday fun in their center. The big tree in the plaza is also something to look forward too, and if you don’t mind spending a few bucks you can also try ice skating. But for the budget conscious, the Central Park’s skating rink is your best bet.

FAO Schwartz – The kids and the young at hearts will definitely enjoy going here. It’s the oldest toy store in the United States and is known for its floor piano.

Grand Central Terminal Laser Light Show -  Grand Central Station projects a laser light show onto its domed sky ceiling on Christmastime. Not only is this a sight to behold but it fits perfectly to those who are tight on the budget, the show is free.

New York City is a historical place and is surrounded with museums. Don’t forget to get one of the family passes, weather it be to get into a museum or a walking tour. With the city’s beautiful Christmas decor, you don’t have to spend so much just to experience wonderful New York holidays.

Spending Halloween By The Beach

The Halloween season just started to roll out round the block and for sure you have got so many invitations to attend to. However, if you want this year’s event to be worth remembering, why not have an unusual venue to celebrate it.

Why don’t you convince your friends or family to have your Halloween party by the beach.

These are just some of the things to do in Provo Beach Resort.

  • indoor flowrider – where you can practice riding those waves. I think this is best for new surfers.
  • beach cruisers
  • ropes courses – one of my favorite things to do, they are exciting and will give you that adrenaline rush in a safe and secure place.
  • miniature croquet – not just grandmas and grandpas, this game is for all ages and you can bond with your grannies too
  • megaplex playground – mini-rock climbing wall and five level playground, enough said
  • toddler town
  • carnival games
  • the spa – for the much needed relaxation

Now that you have the venue, you’d probably be thinking about what costume you can have. Not like any other Halloween parties, the one by the beach will have a different set of characters. Some villains of the seas would be nice. Some sort of Little Mermaid’s Ursula or her soldiers could be great. Weird looking sea creatures are also awesome.

However, even if you’re in the beach, that vampire character that you have in mind will do. After all, vampires can strike anywhere including the bay area or in the beach resort that you’re at.

Is Mexico Your Best Bet for Winter Holidays in the Sun?

Mexico is one of those rare holiday destinations that actually have a preferable climate in winter. With the rainy season running from May to October, travelling in the height of summer can see you caught in many a downpour. And wet sun loungers are fun for no-one.

For winter holidays in the sun, Mexico really offers up the goods. From October till March you’ll find temperatures at a minimum of 20 degrees C, with amazing highs hovering around the 30 mark.

One thing’s for sure, there’s no danger of you coming back from a winter sun holiday in Mexico without a great tan.

With a flight time of 12 hours, Mexico is definitely a long-haul destination from the UK. However, surprisingly affordable holiday deals to Mexico can often be found.

Cancun IMG_5070

All inclusive is a popular option, and the standards of accommodation, food and drink tend to be high across the board. A typical four star hotel in the popular Mexican resort of Cancun will offer a la carte dining, cocktails and watersports, all included in the up front price of your holiday. This means that you can save your spending money for some special excursions to really make your holiday extra memorable.

You could, for example, choose to scuba dive in the stunning underwater world at Cozumel National Marine Park. Or, those with an interest in history will find the Chichen Itza Mayan temple to be supremely fascinating.

If the soft, white sand beaches of Cancun aren’t enough for you, why not take a day trip to Tulum to enjoy one of the most breathtaking tropical beaches in the world?

Families can enjoy the wonderful XCarat eco park; perhaps swimming with dolphins if really lucky.

Mexico has so much to offer as an amazing winter sun destination, so why not book a value all inclusive package for this winter and enjoy some fabulous winter sunshine?
